On June 23th it was my 18th birthday ! o(〃^▽^〃)o And I went to Venice with my father (‐^▽^‐)
He actually planned it to be a surprise but I was trying so hard to plan something he had to tell me (^_^;)We have family there but since we only stayed two days, we'll go to see them another time (´_`。)
With the new airport
Marco Polo, you fly over Venice ヾ(@°▽°@)ノ
And with the
Ponte della Libertà, you can now reach Venice by
bus ! (*^ー^)ノ It even goes a bit in
Mestre, my father's hometown (^ε^)♪
When we left Belgium it was like
10~15°C, and in Venice near from
30°C (iДi) HOT !
The
Pescheria (fishes market) near the
Rialto (^O^)/
And fruits & vegetables market (
Erbaria). What I like is they sell their
zucchini with the flower.
Venitians use the flowers to cook fritters ( ̄∇ ̄+). I still remember when my grandmother cooked that ヾ(@°▽°@)ノ
We bought a slice of
watermelon and ate it on the sea-wall
Then
washing our face, legs, arms, etc
Since we're quite
used to Venice, we bought this book
(in Belgium, but we found it both in French and Italian there) (・∀・). It makes you go by
point to
point with
Corto Maltese ; the places drawed in the comic, the places the writer liked, etc
1.
Arsenal / 2. Piazza San Marco, the
lion / 3. The last bridge in Venice without
parapet ('-^*)/
There are a lot more, but just my
favourites
Gondolas are not everything in Venice. Actually, only tourists use them. We use more the
Vaporetto (same as a underground, but a boat).
Anyway, everything is
by boats.
Ambulances are boats,
goods transportations are by boat,
gire brigades go by boat,
funerals are by boat and the cemetery is an island !
We had our hotel in
Lido and in the morning what a f*cking
breakfast ! I took the pictures, and almost
5 minutes later, it was filled again.
What you HAVE to eat/drink in Venice !
FIRST ! You can't pass a
spritz ! Italians drink
table wine with their meal, and in
Venice, the rest of the day, they drink
spritz
Torrone morbido. It's a cake made of nougat. Actually, you should try everything with "
torrone" in Venice (☆。☆)
Baccala and
polenta. You should eat
polenta everywhere in Italy, 'cause they cook it differently (but of course I like it better in Venice キタ━━━(゚∀゚)━━━!!!)
Gelato (ice cream). Of course it's in the whole
Italy, but you should try Venice-related name flavor, like "
Doge Cream" or even
Torroncino
